Wayne H. Ackerman, 89, died Monday. Born March 25, 1918 in Chelsea, VT, the son of Harland and Nellie Ackerman, and moved to Gray in 1938.
Wayne served in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic and in an antitank division in the European Theatre. He was the recipient of the Purple Heart.
Predeceased by his wife Phyllis Randall Ackerman (married 1 Feb 1961) in 1993, a sister Doris Smith, and a brother, Scott Ackerman.
