Anna Adams Cook, eldest daughter of the
Reverend John and Rose Cook, was born
at Doniphan, Kansas on August 24, 1872
and passed away in a hospital at Topeka,
Kansas on May 16, 1941 at the age of 68
years, 8 months and 22 days. She had
undergone an operation to relieve a
severe throat infection and was believed
to be recovering when her condition became
unexpectedly worse late on Friday night
and death came suddenly shortly before
10:00 p.m.

She united in marriage to Frank M. Hartman
at Centralia, Kansas on February 17, 1895,
and to this union five children were born.
Her husband and two sons preceded her in
death.

At an early age she united with the Meth-
odist Church and was a faithful member
throughout her entire life. She was an
accomplished musician and for many years
assisted her father in the work for the
church, especially among the younger
people. She was also a talented artist, and
conducted classes in pastel and oil painting.

She was a member of the Royal Neighbors
of Frankfort and for a number of years
served as a musician for that order.

She was a resident of this community for
30 years, coming to Frankfort with her
husband and children from Vinita, Okla-
homa in 1905 when in 1905 F.M Hartman
joined forrest Warren in establishing the
Daily Index.

She is survived by one daughter, Mr. Frank
Allen, San Francisco, California; two sons,
Harold H. Hartman and Allen P Hartman
of Frankfort, Kansas; one sister, Mrs. A.M.
Moore, Kansas City, Missouri; four brothers,
M.P. Cook, Madison, Kansas, Dr. John W.
Cook, Arthur M. Cook and Paul P. Cook
all of Topeka, Kansas.

Funeral services were held at Frankfort
Methodist Church on Sunday, May 18,
at 2:30 p.m. with Reverend O.J. McCulloh
officiating.

Pallbearers were R.R.Weis, H.F. Heleker,
M.F. Kelley, Frank Peirson, Dean Potter
and Gilbert Gregg.

Burial was in the Frankfort Cemetery,
Frankfort, Kansas.
