Florence A.Morrison
Mrs. Florence A. Morrison, 89, Pontiac route 4, died at 7:48 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 24, 1985, at St. James Hospital.
The funeral will be held at 1:30 p.m. Sunday at Raleigh J. Harris Funeral Home with the Rev. Dorcas Lohr of the McDowell Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in the South Side Cemetery.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.. Saturday at the funeral home.
Mrs. Morrison was born Jan. 26, 1896, in Eppards Point Township, a daughter of John and Caroline (Ellinger) Shafer. She was educated in McDowell schools. She married J. Chester Morrison at McDowell on Feb. 14, 1917. He died Jan. 30, 1972.
She was a correspondent for the Daily Leader and the Fairbury Blade for many years.
Mrs. Morrison was a member of McDowell Methodist Church and United Methodist Women. She also was a member of Eastern Star, Pontiac Day Homemakers Extension Association unit, Farm Bureau, was a 4H leader for six years and was a sponsor of the McDowell Belles 4-H Club of Eppards Point and Pontiac. She also attended a country inn market food sale for 40 years.
Survivors include one daughter, Geraldine Tenney of Gulfport, Miss.; two grandchildren, Shirley Drane of Normal and Richard Blair of Pontiac; and five great-grandchildren.
One brother preceded her in death.
The family suggests memorial to the McDowell Methodist Church.
