Am using the DOB location edit of Chariton, Lucas County, Iowa, with some caution, however. The obituary for Martin listed the DOB location as Jefferson county, Iowa. There are no Iowa birth records for 1875 to use to reconcile these two locations. Obviously one or the other location is in error so family researchers should use caution.

Luther Cox, long time resident of Fairfield, passed away at 2 p.m.today at the Jefferson County hospital. The body was taken to the Weston Behner Funeral home where last rites are pending.
Cox made his home at 405 E. Lowe Street.

Funeral services for Luther Cox, lifetime resident of Jefferson county, will be held Saturday at 1 p.m. at the Weston Behner Funeral home.
Cox, 85, died Thursday afternoon at the Jefferson County hospital where he had been a patient for 13 days. Rites will be conducted by Dr. J. Henry Teele. Burial will be in Evergreen cemetery.
Cox was born Oct. 3, 1875 in Jefferson county (sic. at least one researcher says Chariton, Lucas county, Iowa), the son of Welcome Friend and Elizabeth Judd Cox.
Cox was a bachelor. He is survived by one brother, David Cox, Omaha, Neb.
