George was born on Dec. 15, 1924, in Bedford, Ind. He was a 23-year veteran of the United States Armed Forces, faithfully serving in World War II, the Korean War and the Vietnam War. George was a proud patriot who loved his country and enjoyed telling stories of his experiences in the military. After retiring from the Army, he went to work for the South Carolina Highway Department
An avid golfer, he was always happy to be on the golf course with his friends. He was also a skilled builder and craftsman who enjoyed all of his many "projects" around the house and in the yard.
George's sense of humor was unmatched, always cracking jokes and playfully teasing his loved ones. He was often called "Mr. Red Socks," as he only wore red socks, no matter his attire. His zeal for life was apparent and contagious to anyone who met him, making him simply unforgettable to all.
A celebration service will be held at noon on Sunday, Sept. 29, at West Acres Baptist a Church in Evans, Ga., with Pastor Larry Harmon officiating.
