Carolyn Ruth (Langkop) Carey, 97, of Prairie Home, Missouri, died at her home on January 29, 2012. She was born on March 29, 1914 on a farm just outside of Prairie Home, Missouri, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Zabel) Langkop. She was one of seven children in her family. She graduated from Prairie Home High School and was a lifetime member of the Clarks Fork Trinity Lutheran Church of Boonville. She married R. A. Carey, Jr. and they resided on their family farm in Prairie Home where Carolyn was a homemaker, caretaker and shared responsibilities at Langkop's Drug Store where her brother, Carl D. Langkop, was a pharmacist for 45 years. After R. A.'s death, Carolyn moved into town where she also took care of her sister, Esther, for fifteen years. She loved cooking, quilting, sewing and working outside in her flower gardens. Carolyn never had children of her own, but dearly loved her niece and nephews and their children. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; three brothers, Herbert, Wilbur and Carl D. Langkop; and two sisters, Josephine (Langkop) McClanahan and Esther Langkop. She is survived by one sister, and several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. Funeral: February 4, 2012 at Clarks Fork Trinity Lutheran Church of Boonville. Arrangements: Thacher-Wood Funeral Home, Boonville, Missouri. Interment: Walnut Grove Cemetery, Boonville, Missouri.
