Winifred (Winnie) Shultz Rider, 89, of 2053 Felker Road, Middletown, entered into rest on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at the Middletown Home.
Winnie was born on June 8, 1924 in Londonderry Township and was the daughter of the late Wesley L. and Mary K. Shaeffer Shultz.
She worked in food service as a cook for the Lower Dauphin School District. Winnie was a member and former choir director of the Geyer's United Methodist Church, Londonderry Township. She was an associate member and organist at Seville Brethren in Christ Church. She served as Past Noble Grand at the Red Rose Rebekah Lodge #547, Middletown. She enjoyed music, reading, gardening, bird watching and crocheting, but her greatest joy was the love of her family especially her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents Winnie was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Rider who passed away on March 2, 2008 and her brother Leroy Shultz.
Surviving her is her daughter, Joanne R. wife of Rev. Gerald L. Espenshade of Putnam Station, NY; sons, J. Keith Rider of Londonderry Township and Kevin W. Rider of Elizabethtown; five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial tribute to her life will be on Friday, October 4, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. at the Geyer's United Methodist Church, 1605 S. Geyer's Church Rd., Middletown, PA 17057 , with her son-in-law Rev. Gerald L. Espenshade and her pastor, Rev. Donald C. Walters officiating respectively. Visitation will be from 10:00 A.M. - 11:00 A.M. Friday in the church. Inurnment will be at the convenience of the family in Hillsdale Cemetery.
