Merle I. Varner, 74, of 411 32nd St. SE, a resident of Cedar Rapids for the past 50 years, died at his home Wednesday morning following a sudden illness.
He was born September 7, 1910, at Palo. On October 5, 1937, he married Elsie M. Leidigh at Center Point. He was a retired employee of Collins Radio.
Surviving in addition to his wife are two sons, Dean of Cedar Rapids and Earl of Redfield, Iowa; two grandchildren; and on step-granddaughter.
Services: 1:30 p.m. Saturday at the Murdoch Chapel in Marion by the Revs. Nick Saunders and Norman Bales. Burial: Center Point Cemetery.
