Mrs. Florence L. Baird:
Mrs. Florence Landon Baird, 77, 1325 Fillmore, died Tuesday, Nov. 27, at her home. Mrs. Baird was a housemother at Kansas State University, Manhattan after 1969, at Washburn University in Topeka a few years and again was housemother at KSU before she retired in 1978.
She previously worked at Central National Bank in Topeka several years, then in 1958 she became a representative for Scotch Cleaners. She was a housemother at the University of Washington, Seattle from 1959 to 1969.
She was born Aug. 2, 1907, near Arkansas City, the daughter of John Edmond and Amanda Elizabeth Holdern Landon. She attended Topeka public schools. Mrs. Baird was a member of an Episcopal Church and Delta Theta Chi Business Women's sorority in Topeka. She was a former member of Beulah Chapter No. 34 of Order of Eastern
Star and a past president of the Women's Division of the Topeka Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include a daughter, Mrs. Norma Jean Freeborn, Topeka; two sisters, Mrs. Rosa Henkle, Topeka, and Mrs. Marita Zarker, Kerrville, Texas; two brothers, Donald C. Landon, Corvallis, Ore, and Joe Landon, Topeka; and two grandchildren.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Penwell-Gabel Funeral Home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.
