Mr. Chris Mills age 80 of London passed away on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 at the U.K. Medical Center in Lexington, Ky. He was the husband of Ellen (Warren) Mills and the son of the late Harrison & Martha Mills of Knox County born to them on April 2nd, 1929 in Knox Co., KY. Mr. Mills was a member of the Salem Baptist Church and was a trucker for twenty years, a Knox County School Bus Driver and served as a Knox County magistrate for twelve years and retired from the Plastics Universal Coal Company. He also enjoyed fox hunting with friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents Harrison & Martha Mills, four sisters Winnie Mills, Bertha Gambrel, Ethel Mills and Laura Bargo, six brothers Sie, Lee, Frank, JB, Obie and Clark Mills along with three grandchildren.
Left behind to mourn his passing is his wife Ellen Mills of London, KY, one son Billy Mills and wife Wanda Sue, two daughters Ruth Smith and husband Roscoe, and Phyllis Mills all of London, KY, one brother Harrison Mills Jr. & wife Virgie of Mills, KY, and one sister Esceline Messer & husband Ed of Barbourville, KY, seven grandchildren, Devonna Gail Brown, Deanie Smith, Jessie Chris Smith, Christine Van Dijk, Bridgett Messer and Rhonda Eldridge all of London, KY, and Georgia Ann Mills of Barbourville, KY, seventeen great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren. Mr. Mills also leaves behind a host of many other relatives and friends to mourn his passing.
Funeral Services for Mr. Mills will be conducted in the Hampton Funeral Home Chapel on Sunday, May 17, 2009 at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Lonnie Collett, Rev. A.Y. Mills, Rev. Seymore Wattenbarger and Bige Warren officiating. Pallbearers will be Dennis Mills, Ulyses Mills, Leon Messer, Larry Mills, Nick Mills, Dexter Mills, Calvin Messer, and Ronnie J. Messer. Honorary pallbearers will be his fellow magistrates he served with and all of his fox hunting buddies. Mr. Mills will be laid to rest in the Mills – Smith Cemetery in London, KY.
