Tommy Dean Ward, age 75, of Marion, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at Memorial Campus of Mission Hospital, surrounded by his loving family and friends. Born in McDowell County, NC on April 16, 1938, he was the son of the late James and Bessie Bowman Ward.

A loving husband, wonderful daddy and papaw, Tommy lived a Christian life and was a prime example to follow. He was a member of Remnant Freewill Baptist Church and served as a Deacon for many years. Tommy was always helping others and had genuine concern for others and was a pillar of the community. He had retired from Baxter Healthcare.

He is preceded in death by, in addition to his parents, seven siblings, Jessie Buchanan, Leona Norman, Doris Webb, Mary Anna McCurry, Zelma Hollifield, James Ward and Bill Ward.

Mr. Ward is survived by his loving wife of 53 years, Patricia "Pat" Ward of the home; one daughter, Debbie Ward Price of Marion; one grandson, Aaron Price of Marion; two sisters, Wilma Norman and Ina McKinney; one brother, Bernie Ward also survives.

A funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 11, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at Remnant Freewill Baptist Church with Revs. J.D. Price and Kenny Schultz officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00a.m., prior to the service, at the church.

Flowers are acceptable and appreciated. Those wishing to make memorial donations in Mr. Ward's memory are asked to consider Remnant Freewill Baptist Church, 4710 US 221 North, Marion, NC 28752.
