Allethaire Hamilton was born near Calvary, Washington (Now Marion) County, Kentucky. She was the daughter of Clement and Ann "Nancy" (Spalding) Hamilton. Her grandparents were: Leonard and Nancy (McAtee) Hamilton and Benedict Joseph and Alethaire (Abell) Spalding.

Sister received the veil as Sister Mary CorneIla on March 25, 1819 at St. Charles Boromeo Church, St. Mary, Washington (now Marion) County, Kentucky.

Sister died May 11, 1826 at Calvary Academy, Calvary, Washington (now Marion County, Kentucky. Sister M. Corneila was buried in the Sisters Section at Old (Pioneer) Holy Name of Mary Cemetery, there. In 1914 her remains were exhumed and re-interred to Rows 7 or 8 on the East Side of the Loretto Motherhouse Cemetery at Nerinx, Marion County, Kentucky.
