Harry A. Brown Dies Sunday, March 17th.
Had Been Resident of Manchester All of His Life.

Harry Anson Brown, 79, passed away at the Bolin hospital here Sunday, March 17th, 1946, after a long period of illness.

Funeral services will be held at the Shelly funeral home Tuesday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock. The Rev. John G. Snapp will be in charge of the services. Burial will be in Oakland cemetery.

Harry Anson Brown, son of Walter Brown and Julia Traver Brown, was born in Burghill, Ohio, February 16th, 1867. As a mere child he came with his parents to Delaware county, and received his education in the Manchester public school.

He was united in marriage with Miss Addie Cowell on June 6th, 1888, at Manchester. Their home was established here, and for thirty years he was employed by the Illinois Central Railway company. During later years Mr. Brown was employed as a clerk in Stearns and McCormick and Earl Dunn's grocery stores.

Mr. Brown is survived by four children - Ray A. Brown, of Cedar Rapids, Amasa Brown, of Manchester; Mrs. Laura B. Hicks, of Chicago; and Mrs. Roy Murphy of Manchester. He also leaves eight grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, who died August 8th, 1929 and by one son, Clarence, who died in infancy; one sister, Mrs. Gertrude Durey.

Mr. Brown was an honest, upright citizen, a dependable workman and was held in the highest esteem by our people generally.

Friends extend sincere sympathy to the children who mourn the loss of a kind and indulgent father.
