Gordon Sidney Jeckell, son of Sidney and Nora
Jeckell, was born on August 28, 1918, in Lamberton,
MN. He was baptized as an infant and attended the
Methodist Church in Newell. He was a member of the
Newell Legion, the Newell Lodge, the V.F.W., and past
Master of St. Elmo Lodge, Early.

He was a farmer near Nemaha until his retirement
in 1985 and lived in Newell for the past four
years. He enjoyed watching sports that his grandchildren
participated in.

He died on October 23, 1989, in Storm Lake.

On January 17, 1946, he was united in marriage
to Betty J. Mauseau at Dayton, OH, and is survived by
his wife Betty, and two children, Susan Determan
and husband Bill, Early, and Janet Houdeshell, and
husband LeRoy, Plymouth, MN; four grandchildren,
sisters, Mildred Smith, Gladys Girardin. Margerie
Sommer, Naomi Patten, Fernetta Siebrecht, sisterin-
law Vivian Jeckell, brother-in-law Earl J. Cutter,
and mother-in-law Anne Mauseau.

He was preceded in death by a brother Raymond
Jeckell, an infant brother, Lloyd, and infant triplet
brother and sisters.
