Miss Dick was born in Chicago on Jan. 1, 1921, the daughter of Carl Rankin and Margaret Wood Dick. She was a member and past deacon of First Presbyterian Church and a member of Chapter BOPEO. She received a bachelor's degree from Wellesley College in 1942 and a master's degree in analytical chemistry from the University of Illinois in 1943. She worked as a chemist at Caterpillar Military Engine Co. from 1943 to 1946. She was director of the Pi Beta Phi central office from 1958 to 1962, volunteer services coordinator for Adolf Meyer Zone Center from 1966 to 1969 and acting director at Macon County Rehabilitation Facilities Inc. from 1970 to 1971. She was Macon County 708 Board Liaison from 1970 to 1974 and was dedicated to serving the community. She had been a board member for the Macon County Day Probation and Education Services, Boys Club of Decatur, Salvation Army, Illinois Child Care Association, YWCA, Macon County Community Mental Health Board, Youth Advocate, Macon-Piatt Comprehensive Youth Services, Champaign DCFS Regional Youth Planning Committee, Community Chest and United Way, where she was the first woman to serve as general Champaign Chair in 1974. She was a member of the Decatur Memorial Hospital Board of Directors and the Foundation Board. Peggy gave her time as a member and past president of Webster-Cantrell Hall Board of Directors, Junior Welfare Association and Kemmerer Village Board. She was a founding member and past president of the Decatur Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, where she was responsible for beginning the auxiliary's community Fun Fair event and their thrift shop.
Surviving are her nephew, Carl R.; nieces, Dianne D., Deborah D. and Elizabeth D.; four great-nieces; three great-nephews; one great-great-nephew.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Carl R. Dick Jr.
