Mrs. Nora Rosetta Freeman, 80, wife of A. A. Freeman, of Carthage, died Saturday, Feb. 2 in McCune Hospital in Carthage. Mrs. Freeman suffered a heart attack on Friday and was admitted to the hospital Saturday morning.
She was born Sept. 19, 1882 near Wheaton, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Brooks Bowell. She had been a resident of Carthage 37 years.
She and Mr. Freeman were married Apr. 13, 1902 at Fairview and a short time later moved to Eaton, Colo., where Mr. Freeman engaged in the furniture business about four years. They returned to Missouri and for a time he owned a general store at Cross Roads, near Stella and at Bethpage. The Freemans moved to Carthage and opened the The Freeman Furniture Store, which he operated for 17 years.
Mrs. Freeman was a member of the First Baptist Church in Carthage.
Survivors include her husband, A. A. Freeman, a son, Boyd b. Freeman of Huntington Park, Calif., three daughter, Mrs. R. B. Noland of Wilmington, N. C., Mrs. Gerald B. Schaefer and Mrs. Byron Replogle of Carthage, 13 grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. One daughter, Mrs. Bessie Gillman, and two sons, Earl and C. Vard Freeman, preceded her in death.
Funeral services were held at the Ulmer Funeral Home in Carthage Saturday, Feb. 9 with Rev. C. F. Siler officiating. Burial was in the Rocky Comfort Cemetery.
Mrs. Freeman was an aunt of Mrs. Joe McNeill of Wheaton, and a sister-in-law to Mrs. Ed Landen and Mrs. Don Raulsten of Wheaton and Mrs. C. F. Siler of Cassville.
