He was born in Killeen, Texas, to the late Robert Cornelious McGaugh and Eliza Barrington McGaugh. He and Joy Dean Kent were married on June 2, 1958, in Waco. He served in the U.S. Army from 1952 to 1954 during the Korean War. He retired from William Cameron & Co., after 26 years of service. He was a member of Victory Temple Assembly of God church in Waco.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Robert C. McGaugh and Jeff McGaugh.
Survivors include his wife, Joy, of Waco; daughters, Nelda L. Duett, of China Spring, and Jeanette McGaugh, of Waco; granddaughter, Heather L. Gulebian, of Waco; sisters, Ella Mae Stoker, of Mertens, Texas, Lillie Bell Carter, of Waco, Ola Livingston and Nora Keaton, both of Dallas, and Vera Joyce Atkins, of Waco; sister-in-law, Nelda Welch, of Waco; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
