William R. "Bill" Wardlaw, 87, of Dayton, died Wednesday, September 25, 2013, at the San Jacinto Methodist Hospital in Baytown.

Graveside services were held at the Palms Memorial Park Cemetery, with burial following thereafter.

Bill was born August 1, 1926 in Pontotoc, Mississippi, to parents Fletcher and Maddie Redell Wardlaw. He was a former resident of Baytown and has resided in Dayton since 1976. He retired from Standard Dredging where he worked as a Steam Engineer. He also had worked at Furrow's Lumber in Baytown and Peoples Building Center in Dayton. Bill enjoyed gardening, animals and most of all loved being with his family.

Mr. Wardlaw was preceded in death by parents, his wife of 47 years: Altha Mae Paul Wardlaw, his son: David Lee Wardlaw, his daughter: Louticia Filla; two sisters and four brothers. He is survived by his son: William R. "Bill" Wardlaw and wife Carol of Dayton and Jeff Wardlaw and wife Tammy of Dallas, daughter: Janie Gray and husband Bill of Dayton; grandchildren: Laura Halter, Sabrina Wardlaw, Robert Filla and wife Michaela, David Filla and wife Johanna, Travis Wardlaw and wife Laura and Paul Zachary Wardlaw; eight great-grandchildren; numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. And numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
