James Gordon Olsen, the son of George and Ardis (Carlson) Olsen was born March 17, 1951 at the Cherry Point MCAS, NC. Jim's dad was in the Marines so Jim's family moved often living in Cherry Point, NC and other cities including Camp LeJeune, NC, Glenwood, MN, Minot, ND, and Albany, GA. He graduated from Dougherty High School in Albany, Georgia. After graduation, Jim furthered his education for a while attending Marsh-Droughton Business School in Atlanta, GA. He also worked at Firestone Tire in Albany, GA prior to enlistment in the Air Force.
On January 31, 1973, Jim entered the United States Air Force. He was stationed in FL and England. Jim was honorably discharged from active military service on July 19, 1976 and moved back to Albany, GA and working for Firestone. Jim then resumed his Air Force career as a member of Air Force Reserve with the 94th Arial Port Squadron in Warner Robins, GA. He retired from the Reserves in 2006 having obtained the rank of Senior Master Sergeant. Jim joined the federal Civil Service at Kings Bay, GA and worked for the Navy at the Strategic Weapons Facility Atlantic, and subsequently retired from there in 2007. After he retired he moved to Glenwood, MN.
Jim was united in marriage to Rosanne Albrecht on February 24, 1996, in Kings Bay, Georgia. Jim and Rosanne were active members of Chippewa Falls Lutheran Church, where Jim served on the church council. Jim and Rosanne have worked for years to map out and record the location of everybody buried at the Chippewa Falls Lutheran Cemetery. Jim enjoyed fishing, woodworking, hunting, and spending time with Rosanne and his family.
He is survived by his wife, Rosanne Olsen of Glenwood; mother, Ardis Olsen of Glenwood; son, Andrew Olsen of Leesburg, GA; daughter, Jennifer Olsen of Myrtle Beach, SC; grandchildren, Tayler and Hannah Olsen of Leesburg, GA; sister, Karen Westerlund of Mt. Pleasant, PA; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Jim is preceded in death by his father, George Olsen.
