Grace Van Ryswyk was born on January 27, 1902, near Lynnville, Iowa, the daughter of Arie Van Ryswyk and Barbara (Veenstra) Van Ryswyk. She attended grade school at the Ludwig School and later at the Reiter School. At the age of eight, she began taking piano lessons and enjoyed music the rest of her life. The Van Ryswyk family moved into Pella, Iowa, in 1917. Grace studied piano and voice at Cntral College from 1921 through 1923 and w2as a member of the Girls' Glee Club. She taught piano for many years in her home.
On February 28, 1930, Grace was married to Frank Wielard in Pella, Iowa. To this union were born two children. Vernon anc Marilyn. Grace and Frank farmed from 1930 - 1948 and then moved into Pella.
Grace was a member of the First Reformed Church, Pella, Ioa,where for many years she was active with the ladies' aide and quilting.
