Col. Ernest O. (Ernie) Agee, USMCR (retired) passed away peacefully in his sleep on September 10, 2013.

Ernie is survived by his beloved wife Peggy, his daughter Pam, and his sons Brian and Brad, and by four grandchildren, Matthew, Laura, John and Hannah; and by his half-sister Florence. He is preceded in death by his daughter Susan.

Ernie Agee was born in Long Beach, CA, and grew up in San Diego. He graduated from St. Augustine High School in San Diego in 1943, shortly before enlisting in the US Army Air Corps. After an honorable discharge, he returned to college and graduated from San Diego State.

Ernie entered USMC Basic School in 1951 and served as an infantry rifle platoon commander during the Korean War. He later moved onto a career in aerospace marketing in San Diego, CA, Sunnyvale, CA, and Marietta, GA. He was also active in the USMC reserve, retiring at the rank of Colonel in 1990. He spent his retirement developing cartoon strips, writing books, and traveling the world with his wife, Peggy.Ernie met Peggy at college, where they became good friends.

Ernie told his family often that he knew she was The One when he received a can of homemade cookies from her that "fused into a single cookie in the Korean humidity." They married on November 26, 1952, and remained married and in love for over 60 years.

Ernie is survived by Peggy and his children Pam, Brian, and Brad.

He is preceded in death by his daughter Susan.

Ernie's friends and family are invited to a viewing (11:30-noon) and graveside service (12:30-1) on Thursday, September 19, at the Alta Mesa Memorial Park, 695 Arastradero Road, Palo Alto, CA.
