Actor. He appeared in 61 films between 1938 and 1968, most often playing Mexicans or Indians in B westerns. His credits include "Fiesta" (1941), "Intrigue" (1947), "Ghost of Zorro" (1949), "Streets of Laredo" (1949), "Crisis" (1950), "Macao" (1952), "Back From Eternity" (1956), "The Magnificent Seven" (1960), and "The Flight of the Phoenix" (1965). He was also busy in television, with roles in such shows as "Rawhide", "The Untouchables", "Bonanza", "Wagon Train", "The Rifleman", "Gunsmoke", "Perry Mason", "I Spy", and "The High Chaparral". Montoya was born in El Paso, Texas. He was the brother of actress Julia Montoya (1903-1991). He was unable to work after 1968 because of heart disease, the cause of his death at 62.
