Full name is Joseph Marion Brown, son of James Harrison Brown and Elizabeth E. Edwards Brown.

TANEY COUNTY REPUBLICAN---April 24, 1924

Joseph Marion Brown was born September 29, 1856, age 67 years 6 months and 16 days. He professed a hope in Christ late in life, March, 1915.

United with the Pilgrims Rest Church of General Baptists and tried to make up lost time by living true and close to his creator. Many times have we heard him shout praises to God.

But his affliction hindered him many times from attending church. He has been almost a constant sufferer for nearly 20 years, but amid all his suffering, since he found the Lord he has held on unflinchingly saying it was God's will for him to suffer. His house has always been open for the public worship of God and it was at one of these meetings that he called the writer and Elder Joe Grady to his bed and asked us to preach his funeral if we outlived him.

But the all-wise father said at last it is enough, you have been faithful over a few things. I will make you ruler over many things, enter thou into the joy of thy Lord.

He leaves a companion, four children, and a host of relatives and friends to mourn his departure. So companion, children and friends, let us not grieve as other who have no hope, for we believe that at the last day, when the trump of God shall sound, and the dead in Christ shall arise we will see him come forth clothed in white and shouting with all the redeemed of God. Funeral services were held at the house, then the remains were laid to rest in the Brown cemetery to await the resurrection morn.
