Colfax -- Gale Iona Thomas 79, of 9074 North county Road 1050 West died at 9:40 a.m. Saturday, August 9 in the Milner community Health Care in Rossville.
Mrs. Thomas taught in Thorntown, Western Boone, Stilsville, Amo and Cutler for 34 years, retiring in May 1983.
Born May 9, 1918, in Colfax, she graduated valedictorian of the Thorntown High School Class of 1936. She also graduated from Central Normal College and attended Butler, Ball State and Purdue universities. She majored in business and physical education.
She married Warren Thomas in Anderson on October 12, 1940. He survives.
Mrs. Thomas was a member of the Thorntown Christian Church. Her hobbies were sewing, gardening and flowers.
Surviving with her husband are two sons and a sister.
Calling 4-8 p.m. today Russell and Hitch Funeral Home, Thorntown, service there 11 a.m. Wednesday, the Rev. Glen Jewel and the Rev Donald Hainer officiating. Interment Maple Law Cemetery, Thorntown, Two granddaughters survive.
