Gertrude was born in Winooski, on March 12, 1918, the daughter of Ulric D. and Delia (Lafebvre) Roberts.
She was the oldest of twelve children. Gertrude attended St. Louis Convent in Winooski. She worked in Connecticut most of her life as a salesperson. She enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards, word find, also going on cruises and going to Biloxi gambling, mostly the penny machine and being with family.
Gertrude is survived by her daughter, Marion Richards of Orange Park, Fla; three grandchildren, Thomas Richards of Charlotte, N.C., Katherine Richards of Orange Park, Fla., Donna Dills of Franklin, N.C.; and two great-grandchildren, Nicole Jennings and Taylor Dills of Franklin, N.C.; sisters, Jeannette Pickering and her husband, Steve, of Winooski, and Pauline Brodeur and her husband, Paul, of Winooski; sisterin-law, Cecile Robert of Winooski; and many nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her parents; husband, Neil F. Jacobs; son-in-law, Robert Richard; brothers and sisters, Norman J. Roberts, Cecile E. Bourque, Florence B. Jones, Clement J. Roberts, Rita D. Plant and Raymond V. Roberts.
Visiting hours will be on Sunday, Sept. 29, 2013, from 2 to 4 p.m. at LaVigne Funeral Home, 132 Main St., Winooski.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Monday, Sept. 30, 2013, at 11 a.m. at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski.
Interment will follow in St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospice of the Champlain Valley, 1110 Prim Rd., Colchester, VT.
