D. Arlene Showaker, 85, went to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Tuesday, May 13, 2008.
Born Jan. 14, 1923, she was a daughter of Herman and Miriam Bishop Fickes and the widow of Eugene B. Showaker. Mrs. Showaker is survived by three daughters, Judith A. Linton of Newville, Nancy K. Smith of Carlisle a nd Linda L. Pretz of Pittsburgh; a son, Jeffrey E. Showaker of Newville; a sister, Marceline Morrison of Newville; two stepsisters, Donna Barri ck of Newville and Joyce Smith of Carlisle; her stepmother, Grace Fickes of Carlisle; 10 grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; several step- grandchildren; and several step-great-grandchildren. She is preceded in death by a son, Ronald E. Showaker; a sister, Geraldine Anderson; and two brothers, John Fickes and Gary Fickes. Burial will be in Cumberland Valley Memorial Gardens at the convenience of the family.
