Darlene Doris Klein was born November 8, 1924 in Marion County, Kansas, the daughter of Dave and Rachel (Eberhardt) Klein. She attended country school in Kansas and later graduated from Hillsboro High School in Hillsboro, Kansas.

Following high school, she began working for Boeing in Wichita, Kansas. During this time, she met her husband, John Poulson. They were married on October 28, 1945. After his discharge from the service, they moved to Newell, Iowa. Later, they lived in Storm Lake, Iowa, Exira, Iowa, and Emmetsburg, Iowa. While living in Emmetsburg, she worked as an administrative secretary for the school. Later, they lived in Clinton, Iowa, Appleton, Wisconsin, Mt. Vernon, Iowa, and then to Perry, Iowa. Darlene worked for the school in each of these communities. After retiring in Perry, Iowa, she moved to Le Mars to be closer to her family.

She was an active member for many years at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars, where she served in the Altar Guild, on the funeral lunch committee, and Meals on Wheels. She was also active in Sarah Circle for many years. Through the years, she enjoyed line dancing, quilting, playing cards, golfing, bowling, and sewing. She also enjoyed solving Sudoku and crossword puzzles and watching television. But most of all, she loved time spent with her family and watching her granddaughters in their activities.

Survivors include her daughter, Donna Rasmussen of Le Mars; two granddaughters: Summer Rasmussen (fiancé, Doug Lundburg) and their daughter, Elizabeth Lundberg of Davenport, IA, and Samantha Rasmussen (Mike Copeland) and their son, Copeland John Rasmussen of Le Mars, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her brother: Leonard (Elma) Klein; and her son in law: Gale Rasmussen.
