Mrs. Claudia Banks Harris Gleaves, age 95, of Shelbyville, formerly of Hermitage, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013, after an extended illness.
Graveside services will be 2 PM Monday, September 23, 2013, at Hermitage Memorial Gardens. Reverend Dr. Lloyd Doyle will officiate.
Visitation will be 2-5 PM Sunday at Feldhaus Memorial Chapel.
She was born September 1, 1918, in Bedford County, to the late Henry Dennis and Mary Lee Gaither Harris, Sr. Mrs. Gleaves was retired from the State of Tennessee Department of Employment Security. She held membership in the Stones River Woman's' Club, Shelbyville Woman's' Club, Donelson Business and Professional Woman's' Club for 26 years and United Methodist Women. She has been a member of Dodson Chapel United Methodist Church since 1947, making her their oldest living member.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Guy Thomas Gleaves, four brothers, Henry Dennis Harris, Jr., Cecil Edwin Harris, Leonard Franklin Harris, and Earl Gaither Harris, and two sisters, Ruth Harris Adams and Sarah Bob Harris Faullin.
Survivors include two sisters, Alice Marie Harris and Janice Harris Carlton, and her husband James, and her caregiver and niece, Dobee Mallard, all of Shelbyville; numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nieces and nephews.
