Ronald Walter was born March 31, 1921 in Vernon Center to Walter A. and Pearl F. (Childs) Rambo. He attended school and graduated from Garden City High School in 1939 and then attended Mankato Commercial College. He moved to California to work at Douglas Aircraft Company. On August 19, 1942 he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps. Ron proudly served his country during World War II, as staff sergeant and crew chief on a B-26 in the South Pacific. On February 3, 1946 he was honorably discharged. On May 11, 1946 he was united in marriage to Nancy Irvine McGee in Pasadena, California. This union was blessed with seven children. Ron was a farmer for 49 years. He also worked at the Vernon Center Locker and drove a school bus. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Vernon Center where he served as an usher for many years and was a member of the church board. Ronald was on the Vernon Center Township Board as Treasurer as well as a member of the Wellcome Memorial School Board. Ron enjoyed farming, watching TV, having coffee with his friends, and spending time with his family.

Those left to cherish his memory include his wife of 66 years, Nancy "Nan" Rambo; six children, Michael (Patsy) Rambo of Naples, FL, Dennis (Cheryl) Rambo of Bradenton, FL, James Rambo of Vernon Center, Linda Parsons of North Mankato, Linette (Brian) Irvine of Amboy, and Yvonne Bergemann (Terry Henry) of Mapleton; thirteen grandchildren; fourteen great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and other extended family and many friends.

Ronald was preceded in death by his son, Steve; parents, Walter and Pearl; daughter-in-law, Sharry; and sister, Alice (Charles) Kendall.
