Obituary from the Edwardsville Intelligencer, Edwardsville, Madison County, Illinois, Monday, November 8, 1971, page 11:
  Davis P. Huffer, 61, 1336 Mary Dr., died in his home at 10:10 p.m. Sunday after a long illness.
  Mr. Huffer, a native of Shelbyville, was a telegrapher for the Penn Central Railroad for 42 years. He had lived in Hillsboro before coming to Edwardsville about seven years ago.
  A son of the late Charles and Blanche Whitaker Huffer, he was born July 31, 1910, in Shelby County.
  On Nov. 20, 1947, he was married to Hazel Carrow in Vandalia. She survives.
  Also surviving are sons Dale Huffer of Edwardsville and Dwight Huffer of Longmont, Colo., a daughter, Mrs. William (Phyllis) Johnstone of Peoria, a stepson, Burl Curtis of Bloomsdale, Mo., stepdaughters Mrs. Georgina Laumondier of Festus, Mo., and Mrs. Florence Richardson of Herculaneum, Mo., a sister, Mrs. Catherine Nees of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and five grandchildren.
  Mr. Huffer was formerly secretary-treasurer of the Transportation Communication Employees Union of Indianapolis, Ind.
  He was a member of the Methodist Church in Mode.
  Friends may call after 4 p.m. Tuesday at Pletcher Funeral Home, where funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Carl Bennett officiating. Burial plans are indefinite.

Pallbearers were William Davis, Richard Andrews, Ray Hutchens, John Schwab, Jack Frandsen and E.C. Booth.
