Funeral services for John E. Dailey, 62, who died of an apparent heart attack Tuesday afternoon, will be at 2 p.m. Sunday in Wesley Chapel AME Church.
The Rev. William Lawton, pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Friends may call at the Lesley Marks Funeral Home after 2 p.m. Saturday until 11:30 a.m. Sunday, when the body will be removed to the church to lie in state from 12:30 p.m. until the services.
Born Dec. 24, 1905, in Princeton, Ark., Mr. Dailey came to Edwardsville 44 years ago. For the past 35 years he had worked as an auto polisher at Butler Chevrolet Co.
He is survived by his wife, the former Myrtle Scott, whom he married Jan. 8, 1936 in Edwardsville.
Surviving in addition to his wife are six brothers, Walter of Fordyce, Ark., Louis of St. Louis, Thomas of Melvern, Ark., Douglas of Oklahoma City, Okla., Henderson of Muskegon Heights, Mich., and Jesse of Waco, Texas, and five sisters, Mrs. James (Mallia) Matolock, Melver; Mrs. Katie Owens and Helen Dailey, Princeton, Mrs. Josie Woods, Little Rock, and Mrs. Sylvester (Amber) Hughes, Sparkman, Ark.
His parents, William and Susan Downs Dailey, two brothers and four sisters preceded him in death.
He was a member of Wesley Church, where he served on the board of trustees and was treasurer of the choir.
Pallbearers were Lee Stanley, Tom Crawford, George Scott, Marion Brown, Elijah Carpenter and Fred Jones.
