Lynne E. Taylor, of Ithaca, passed away at Cayuga Medical Center on Thursday, August 19, 2010 at the age of 67. Lynne was born on April 21, 1943 in Binghamton to the late Lyman and Mildred (Dean) Taylor. For over thirty years she worked as a teacher in various subjects and grades at the Trumansburg Elementary and Middle Schools. Lynne was a worldwide traveler. She had visited all 50 States and has been to several different countries on cruises. She had planned a trip to Hawaii this October with her trusty travel companion, Sue Cox. Lynne loved taking pictures and held several awards in amateur photo contests. She was an avid collector of all types of angels, each one having significance in her life and special meaning. Lynne was a very talented artist who took great pride in her work. She made many beautiful handmade gifts for friends and family that will be cherished forever. Lynne's beauty, independence, and personal strength will be remembered always. She leaves behind her special canine companion, Bandit, who will truly miss her company and, of course, their evening popcorn sharing ritual. Lynne is survived by two daughters, DeEtte (William) Drake of Candor and Rebecca (Steve) Tostanoski; four grandchildren, Michael, Taylor, Steven, and Elizabeth; a brother, Byron Taylor; a niece and nephew, Jodi and Christopher; and two aunts, Elinor Williams and Dorothy Galbreath.
The family will be present to receive friends from 5:00 to 7:00pm on Tuesday, August 24, 2010 at the Ness-Sibley Funeral Home, 23 South Street Trumansburg. A Memorial Service will be held at 2:00pm on Wednesday, August 25 at the funeral home with Fr. John Tokaz, OFM Cap officiating. The family asks those who wish to remember Lynne in the form of a contribution to kindly consider the Scleroderma Foundation, 300 Rosewood Drive, Suite 105, Danvers, MA 01923.
