Linda May Fritsch, nee West, 68, Union, passed away Monday, Sept. 23, 2013, at her home.

Linda, daughter of the late Thomas Jefferson West and wife Bertha Villean West, nee Blackwell, was born July 13, 1945, in Belle. She received her education at Belle and then attended East Central College, Missouri Baptist University and Maryville University, receiving her bachelor's degree in education from Maryville. She taught in the Washington School District at Clearview Elementary, teaching second and fifth grades for 25 years before retiring in 2000. Linda was united in marriage to Mr. Larry Fritsch Nov. 24, 1962, at St. Peter's United Church of Christ, Owensville. They made their home first in St. Louis, then Clifton, N.J., before moving to Union in 1964. Linda was a member of Zion U.C.C., Union, Missouri Botanical Gardens, Retired Teachers Association and N.E.A. She also was active with the Franklin County Humane Society and Operation Clean Stream.

Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Thomas Jefferson and Bertha Villean West; seven brothers; and three sisters.

She is survived by her husband, Larry Fritsch, Union; three daughters, Tammy Stowe and husband Ed, Union, Mandy Yeager and husband Jason, Wildwood, and Lisa Wolfe and husband Todd, Elgin, Ill.; nine grandchildren, Clare Stowe, Maddie Stowe, Benjamin Stowe, Isabel Stowe, Nathan Yeager, Maura Yeager, Patrick Wolfe, Lucille Wolfe and Stella Wolfe; two brothers, Roy West and wife Betty, Richmond, Va., and Homer West and wife Jo, Jefferson City; one sister, Donna Shibles and husband David, Lakeland, Fla.; nieces; nephews; and many other relatives and friends.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 26, at Oltmann Funeral Home, Union, with the Rev. Mike Bone officiating.

Interment followed in the Zion Church Cemetery, Union.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Franklin County Humane Society or Zion Church Debt Reduction fund.
