Born July 21, 1933 in Spartanburg, he was a son of the late William Douglas Howell and Berthena Huskey Howell. He was a retired Master Sargent with the U.S. Air force after 22 years and was employed with Penske Truck rentals. He was a member of the St. John Masonic Lodge, a Shriner and a member of Cherokee Springs Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to his wife is a son, Frank Edward Howell Jr.; grandchildren, Chris Howell, Jessica Howard and husband Daniel, Keremiah Howell; great-granddaughter, Destiny Howard; former daughter-in-law, Ella Jane Howell; special nieces, Betty Ann Hutchins, Ann Partridge and several other nieces and nephews. Also special friends, Jerry and Cindy Bishop, Billy and Judy Sherbet, Freddie Garrett and Frank Lanford.
In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his first wife, Madge B. Howell; son, Timothy B. Howell; sisters, Mary Williams, Betty Coker, Hazel Easler and a grandson, Jeremiah Edward Howell.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, September 26, 2013 at Cherokee Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Michael Boyter officiating. Burial with military honors will follow at Springhill Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends from 7:00 until 9:00 p.m. Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Eggers Funeral Home of Chesnee with masonic rites being held at 6:30 p.m.
