Mrs. Clara T. Richards, 81, of 746 Hillsboro Ave., a native and lifelong resident of Edwardsville, died at 10:55 p.m. Saturday in the Anna-Henry Nursing Home. She had been ill two months.
She was born July 13, 1888, the daughter of Charles and Katherine Vial Tuxhorn. She was married Oct. 27, 1909, in Edwardsville, to Ben H. Richards. He died April 8, 1960.
Survivors are three sons, Charles T. Richards and Robert W. Richards, both of Edwardsville, and Ben H. Richards Jr. of Mattoon, eight grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents, a son, David, two brothers and a sister preceded her in death. The brothers and sister were Charles V. Tuxhorn, Albert H. Tuxhorn and Mrs. Emma Wiemers.
She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church and the Women's Society of Christian Service of the church.
Friends may call at the Weber Funeral Home after 4 p.m. today until the time of service, 1:30 p.m. Tuesday. The Rev. William B. Lewis will officiate at last rites in the funeral home.
Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Pallbearers at her funeral were Charles Tuxhorn, Fred Wiemers, George Wiemers, Tom Richards, Henry Wiedey and Eugene Lietner.
