Mr. Roger Hayden, 66, died Wednesday, May 5, 1999, at his residence in Hamburg. A native of Portland, he had lived in the Pine Hill community for the past two years after a 19-year residence in Lufkin, TX, and he was a former resident of Crescent City, CA. He retired from Louisiana Pacific as a plywood area plant manager after 18 years and was also a former Georgia Pacific employee and continued to work part time as a consultant for Georgia-Pacific. A member of the Plywood Pioneers Association and St. Mark's Episcopal Church in Crossett where he had been junior and senior warden and was currently serving on the vestry, he was preceded in death by his parents, Elbert and Bessie Childs Hayden, and a sister, Pattie Hayden Nunes. Survivors include his wife of 48 years, Claudia Wigley Hayden of Hamburg; two sons, Steve Hayden and wife Becki of Fordyce and Mike Hayden and wife Lisa of Natchitoches, LA; a sister, Marlys Carpenter and husband Gary of Crossett; a brother, Jack Hayden of Monroe, LA; a sister, Jean King of Crescent City, CA, and nine grandchildren, Shana, Jennah, Ashley, Kristina, Kelsey, Holley, Christopher, and Jason Hayden and Aaron Carpenter. Funeral services were at 2 p.m. Saturday, May 8, in St. Mark's Episcopal Church with Rev. George Hart officiating. Pallbearers were David Edwards, Tommy Hatcher, Donnie Paul, Eugene Owens, Paul Jones, Otis Paul Malloy, Jim Clark and Ronnie Paul. Honorary pallbearers were Howard Givens, John Moskeand, Clem Johnson, Edwin Edwards, Scott Campbell, Gary Draper, Don Rothenbush, Cecil Smith, Calvin Murphy, Arlo Johnson and Fred Graves. Burial followed services at the Flat Creek Cemetery, directed by Jones Funeral Home of Hamburg. Memorials may be made to St. Mark's Episcopal Church, P. O. Box 795, Crossett, AR 71635.
