Betty was born in Freestone County, Texas, near Dew, to the late Elmer T. and Annie Elizabeth Atchley. She married William Ray Day on October 23, 1950, and they shared almost 63 years together. Betty worked at her mother's greenhouse, Granny's Greenhouse, in Teague, for many years and enjoyed growing flowers. She was a dedicated wife and mother to her family and a great cook. Betty was a member of the First Baptist Church in Teague.
Survivors include her husband, William Ray "Bill" Day, of Teague; daughters, Vicky Bracamonte and husband, Walter, of Dallas, Sheila Day, of Farmers Branch, and Sherri Spikes, of Toronto, Canada; grandchildren, Curtis George, Robert Olivarez, Randee Blakemore, and Joshua Blakemore; great-grandchildren, Landon Olivarez and Kendall Olivarez; numerous other relatives and friends.
