Darryl Young was born July 25, 1984 in Kansas City, MO; the son of Burl Young and his wife Peggy (nee` Chance). He passed away after a short battle with Leukemia August 16, 2010 at the age of 26 in Villa Ridge, MO. Darryl received his education at the Ray-Pec High School in Peculiar, MO. He was most recently employed as an installer for Kansas City Closet Company. Darryl was a member of Kansas City First Church of the Nazarene. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and working on his jeep in his spare time. He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Auburn and Virginia Chance, and his paternal grandfather, Willard Young. He is survived by his parents, Burl and Peggy Young of Villa Ridge; two sisters, Cassie Keeling and her husband Billy and their children, Mollie, Buddy, Chloe, and Mackenzie of Cuba; Joanne Young of the home; one brother, Jeff Young and his children, Tyson and Trinity of Mason City, IA; special friend, Jessica Whitfield and her daughter Alyssa of Grand View, MO; grandmother, Virginia Crooks of Overland Park, KS; aunts, uncles, other relatives, and many friends. Memorial Service was held Thursday August 19, 2010 at 6 p.m. at the Wellspring Welsleyan Church in Washington, MO. A second memorial service was held at the Antioch Church of the Nazarene in Overland Park, KS August 21, 2010 at 10 a.m.; with Rev. John Crowder officiating. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society. The Young family was served by the Oltmann Funeral Home in Union.
