DAVID CITY — Daniel Kobza, 79, of David City, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at St. Elizabeth's Hospital in Lincoln.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at Presentation "Marietta" Church in rural Bellwood with the Rev. Joseph Steele officiating. A private family burial will be at a later time.
There will be no viewing or visitation.
Mr. Kobza was born on the farm near David City to Ivan and Marie (Bartek) Kobza. He graduated from Marietta High School. He married Marilyn Sargent on Jan. 9, 1956 at St. Mary's Church in David City. Mr. Kobza worked in Alaska for a few years before his marriage and lived in the Butler County area the rest of his life.
He was a heavy machine operator for various employers including Butler County, and local townships.
In his later years, he owned and raced thoroughbred horses.
He belonged to the Hoseman's Club. He was a strong supporter of the NRA. He enjoyed hunting, and told many stories of his hunts while living in Alaska, watching all sports, especially football, he was a big Husker Fan, and enjoyed gardening.
Survivors include: Wife, Marilyn; son, Daniel; daughters, Lisa, Bonnie, Amy, Gina; two brothers, Leroy and Milton; three sisters, Joan, Carm, and Marie; 11 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one daughter, Cherie Jean Kobza in 1978; and one sister, Ramona Abbott.
