Doris V. Swope died Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2006, at HospiceCare of Boulder and Broomfield Counties Care Center in Louisville. She was 87.
She was born April 20, 1918, in Crown Point, Ind., to John and Hulda (Lindholm) Peterson.
She married Leon Swope on June 18, 1939, in Hobart, Ind. The couple moved to Ontario, Calif., in 1949. She moved to Colorado in 2005.
Mrs. Swope was a homemaker and worked in retail sales for many years. She was a member of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Ontario and was very active in her church. She sang in the choir and was a member of sewing and quilting guilds. She enjoyed quilting, crocheting, needlework, travel and spending time with her friends and family.
She was preceded in death by her husband in 1992; a brother; and three sisters.
Mrs. Swope is survived by a son, Ronald Swope and his wife Bev of California; two daughters, Carole Freeman and her husband Steve of Longmont and Barbara Nepote and her husband Andy of California; eight grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 11, at Faith Lutheran Church of Longmont with the Revs. Dan Hanson and Bruce Welander of Faith Lutheran Church officiating. Cremation will take place at Ahlberg Funeral Chapel and Crematory. A second service and inurnment will be held in Ontario.
