Illinois General Assembly state senator and businessman. A Democrat, he represented the 24th district in the Assembly in its 58th (1933-1935) through 61st (1939-1941) sessions. He was the father of actress Marcella Martin, who played the role of Cathleen Calvert in the movie "Gone With The Wind."
