Thomas J. Thrasher, 86, of 553 Ray St., died today at 6:10 a.m. at St. Joseph Hospital.

The son of John L. and Lucretia Graves Thrasher, he was born at Lewistown, Mo., Nov. 21, 1879. He was a retired John Morrell & Co. employee and had resided in Ottumwa 42 years. He was a member of the Church of Christ.

His marriage to Matilda Matheney took place Nov. 11, 1900, in Missouri. She died Aug. 27, 1960. He was also preceded in death by two daughters, one granddaughter, four brothers and one sister.

Survivors include a son, Amos Thrasher of Ottumwa; six daughters, Mrs. Rebecca Yates of Richmond, Calif., Mrs. May Miller of Ottumwa, Mrs. Viola Everetts of Riverside, Calif., Mrs. Pearl Whitledge of Fresno, Calif., Mrs. Dorothy Bailey of Elsobranta, Calif. [sic-should be El Sobrante, Calif.], and Mrs. Betty Winningham of Martinez, Calif.; 14 grandchildren; 29 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

There are also three sisters, Mrs. Fannie Stidel of Quincy, Ill., Mrs. Emma Diffendaffer of LaBelle, Mo., and Mrs. Addie Levengood of Williamstown, Mo.; and five brothers, Lawrence Thrasher of Ottumwa, Roy Thrasher of Rainier, Wash., Richard Thrasher of San Jon, N.M., Freeman Thrasher of Lewiston, Mo., and Archie Thrasher of Taylor, Mo.

The service will be Monday at 2:30 p.m. at the Reece Funeral Home with Dayton Nelson of the Church of Christ officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Lawn Cemetery.
