Joseph Michael 'Joe' Aukstolis
Joe Aukstolis passed away at age 79 and was laid to rest in the Aukstolis family plot at Saint James Cemetery in Nauga- tuck. A first generation American, Joe was a son of the late Michael and Caroline Aukstolis, both of whom had emigrated from Lithuania.
Joe had been a 42-year member of the Benevolent & Protec- tive Order of Elks (Naugatuck Lodge No. 967), having been initiated into the Order in 1948. He was a retired trucking de- partment foreman at the now-defunct U.S. Rubber Company (UniRoyal) where he had been employed for many years; and one of his enjoyments in life was hunting.
At the time of his death, Joe was survived by his wife Florence (to whom he had been married for more than 55 years) and a son, Joseph Aukstolis Jr. In addition to his parents, he had been predeceased by a brother, Stanley Aukstolis.
