Bobby Gene "Bob" Hanna
25 Nov 1931 - 04 Feb 2007

Bobby Gene "Bob" Hanna, 75-year-old Woodward resident died Sunday, Feb. 4, 2007 at the Woodward Regional Hospital. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 8, 2007 in the First Baptist Church with the Rev. Brett Allen and Tom Buxton officiating. Burial will follow in the Elmwood Cemetery. Billings Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Bobby Gene Hanna was born on Nov. 25, 1931 in Olustee, Okla. to John A. and Mildred Hanna. Bob grew up in southwest Oklahoma, attending many rural schools. He graduated from Martha, Okla. in 1950.

He married Daphne Kastner in 1952. They were blessed with three daughters: Becky, Linda, and Carol. In 1959 they moved to Woodward to work for Halliburton. Eight years later they bought the DX Service Station at Ninth and Oklahoma, and later bought the Gulf station, where he worked until retirement.

Bob loved the outdoors. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, and golfing. As a young man, he was a gifted athlete, playing semi-pro baseball in Omaha, Neb. He won and placed in many golf tournaments. Taking golf trips with his friends was some of his greatest joys. However, the real trophies were his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. His lasting legacy is eight adoring grandchildren who are all Christians, and five great grandchildren being raised in Christian homes.

In the midyears of his life, Bob came to faith in Christ. Soon afterwards he was serving the Lord as a bus driver on Sunday mornings, and later as a greeter and usher. Despite a significant hearing loss, he faithfully attended his men's Sunday School class at the First Baptist Church, Woodward.vOne of his great qualities was his friendship. Whether on the golf course or church or work many considered Bob a friend. He will be remembered and missed by many.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents John and Mildred Hanna; brothers Spud and Dwayne Hanna; sister Wynona Howard; and grandson Daniel Sasnett.

Survivors include his wife of nearly 55 years Daphne Hanna; Daughters Becky Damron and husband Don of Woodward; Linda Townley and husband Bobby of Lone Grove; Carol Sasnett and husband Ed of Norman. He has eight grandchildren: Jennifer Wilson, Kristi Burkhart, Brent Damron, Laura Vanbebber, David Townley, Amy Spear, Sarah Neal and James Townley. He also has five great grandchildren: Hanna and Lilly Wilson, Bradley and Carter Vanbebber, and Alli Townley.

Memorial contributions may be made to the First Baptist Church, Hearing Impaired Audio Fund, with the funeral home accepting the contributions.
