INDEPENDENCE - Alexis R. Amaya-Shepard died September 21 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident on Vitae Springs Road. She was 20. Alexis was born August 26, 1993 in Corvallis, Oregon. She graduated from Sprague High School in 2011.

Alexis' interests included softball, volleyball, basketball and sports in general. Kind, smart and straightforward, she always told it how it was. She loved spending time with her son, and her dream was to have her bachelor's in business.

Alexis is survived by her husband Esteban Moreno and son Adan E. Moreno-Amaya; parents Hermelinda Amaya and Bryon Shepard; and siblings Sasha and Lydia Jensen; Ashley, Tyler and Jacob Shepard; and step-brothers Jesse and Cameron Johnson.

Visitation will be Friday, September 27 from 12 pm to 8 pm at Farnstrom Mortuary, 410 Monmouth Street, Independence. A funeral service will be held Saturday, September 28, 12 pm at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, 783 Church Street W, Monmouth, followed by a committal service at 2 pm at Hilltop Cemetery, Independence.
