Born October 30, 1940 in the "Old Factory" section of Morgan County, he was the son of the late Joseph William and Susan Bell Yost Young.
He was of the Methodist faith. Dip attended the Sand Mine School. He worked as an excavator with Phillip McCoy from 1971-1985, then owned and operated Young Excavating from 1985 until his retirement in 2009. Both companies operated predominantly as sub-contractors for U.S. Silica. He was a true outdoorsman and especially enjoyed fishing and hunting.
Dip is survived by his wife of 52 years Mary Jean Rosalie Ward Young, at home, three sons, Todd William Young and his wife Stephanie and Gregory Gail Young, all of Berkeley Springs, Jeffery Scott Young and his wife Donna of Winchester, VA, one daughter, Karen Lee Hoover of Berkeley Springs, three sisters, Judy Patton, Connie Shirley and Debbie Flowers, all of Berkeley Springs, seven grandchildren, Alexis Kayleen Lake and her husband Jeremy of Southport, NC, Matthew Scott Young and Laken Elizabeth Young, both of Martinsburg, WV, Anthony Gail Hoover and his fiancé Trista Lynch, Amber Renee Young, Natalie Ann Young and Emily Grace Young, all of Berkeley Springs, three great grandchildren, Samuel Martin Lake of Southport, Kierra Marie Young of Martinsburg and Eli Anthony Hoover of Berkeley Springs and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother Gary Young.
Funeral services will be conducted at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 25, 2013 at Helsley-Johnson Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 95 Union Street, Berkeley Springs, WV with Local Pastor Kenny Mason officiating. Interment will be in Alpine Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 2-4 & 6-8 p.m. on Tuesday at the funeral home.
