Esther V. Jensen, 89, of Oskaloosa died Thursday, Feb. 6, 1986 at the Mahaska County Hospital. She was born Jan. 19, 1897 in Oskaloosa, the daughter of Karl Oskar "Charles" Holm and Matilda Carlson Holm.
She Married on Dec. 25, 1975. She was a registered nurse and worked at the Mahaska County Hospital for 25 years, retiring in 1965. She was a member of the Lady Eagled, the World War I Barracks Auxiliary and the DAV Auxiliary.
She is survived by four daughters: Mildred (Mrs. James) Thornbury of Mesa, Ariz., Marylin (Mrs.Don)Crowe of Laguna Niguel, Calif., Alice (Mrs. John)Gustafson of Huntington Beach, Calif. Frances Martin of Mission Viejo, Calif.; nine grandchildren; four great grandchildren; one sister, Mildred Busk of Mitchell, S.D.
She was preceded in death by her parents,her husband,a stepmother, Ellen Holm,one brother Martin,and sister Ruth.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 1 p.m. at the Garland-Van Arkel Funeral Chapel with the Rev. David Troxler of the First Christian Church officiating. Burial will be at Forest Cemetery. The family will be at the funeral chapel Sunday evening from 7-9 p.m. to greet friends and relatives.
