Ms. Humphries was born in Sumter, the daughter of Marie Johnson Cook Hicks and the late Joseph L. Cook. She attended Sumter Area Technical College. She worked for Sumter Dry Goods and Hughes Tire & Appliance Service and sold Avon. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Surviving in addition to her mother of Sumter are one daughter, Becki Humphries of Sumter; one sister, Gail Turner of Pinewood; one stepbrother, Robert Hicks of England; two stepsisters, Janice Deaton of Garden City and Gladys McLeod of Florida.
She was preceded in death by her father; her sister, Carol Devoll; and stepfather, Robert E. Hicks.
A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Chapel of Bullock Funeral Home with the Rev. Charles Clanton officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen Memorial Park Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be members of her family.
