Earl Jackson Jr., age 90, of Erie, passed away Friday, September 20, 2013 at Pleasant Ridge Manor West. He was born in Warren, Pa. on July 7, 1923, a son of the late Earl Smith Jackson and Katherine Roselynn Lindberg Jackson.

He worked on the family farm as a young man and went on to serve in the United States Army during WWII. Earl was a truck driver for many years. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He loved spending time with his friends and with his loyal dog, Trixie. He was a member of Waterford American Legion Post #285, the VFW Post #470, the Siebenbuerger Club, and the Sunflower Club.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Inez Otteni Jackson; his second wife, Lavon Yaple Jackson; a brother, George Jackson; and a son, Jack Yaple.

He is survived by two sons, Thomas E. Jackson of Saegertown and James Yaple and his wife, Midori of Hawaii; two daughters, Patty Courteau and her husband, Al of Erie and Linda Mango and her husband, Frank of Omaha, Neb.; a daughter-in-law, Judy Yaple; three sisters, June Seroka and Ann Schaming both of Erie and Ruth Wright of Fla.; eight grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

Friends may call at the Burton Wintergreen Funeral Home, 2532 Norcross Rd., Erie on Tuesday from 2 to 4 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. and are invited to attend a service there on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. Burial in Wintergreen Cemetery with full military honors.
