Mrs. Charles Ketelson
Martha J. Young, the daughter of the Rev. J.J. and Sarah Young, was born in Bloomington, Ill., Nov. 26th, 1861, and departed this life at San Gabriel, Calif., Jan. 26th, 1935, at 1:15 morning, aged 73 years, 2 months and 1 day.
Her father was an active minister of the Methodist Episcopal church in the middle west fields for many years. She was one of seven children, Sarah, now living at Hollywood, Calif., surviving.
She was happily married at Bloomington, Ill., on Jan. 11th, 1887, to her old schoolmate, Charles P. Ketelson. They immediately moved to Kinsley, Kansas, where they became an active factor in the building, of the then new west. Here they lived and labored for 23 years, thence to Centralia, Wash., in 1910, and to California in 1912. Settling in our own San Gabriel community.
To this union was born three children, now surviving and grown to family status, with two grandchildren: Mrs. Pearl Sosick, San Gabriel, Haven Ketelson, Long Beach, and Mrs. Abbie Sanford, Oroville, Calif.; the grandchildren are Virginia Melton and Billy Sanford.
The beloved husband passed to his reward very suddenly on May 8th, 1934. The shock was such that she never fully recovered. It was very noticeable that she was lonely beyond the possibility of relief...
The service was held Monday, 2 p.m. at the Dubois Parlors, San Gabriel, Calif.
